2019

CT Scanner

$1,100,000

In 2019, the Foundation funded the supply and installation of a state-of-the-art CT scanner — the first ever available in Queenstown. This $1.1 million investment means patients can now access critical diagnostic services locally, reducing the need to travel long distances for urgent scans.

Adult Laerdal Training Aid “Kenny”

$120,000+

Recognising the importance of family support during times of illness, the Foundation created a one-bedroom Whānau Room in 2021. With funding of more than $120,000, this dedicated space allows families to stay close to loved ones receiving care in hospital, easing stress and providing comfort when it matters most.

2024

Newborn Laerdal Simulation Aids “Annie” & “Prem Annie”

$10,000

In 2024, the Foundation extended its support to neonatal care with the purchase of newborn and premature-sized Laerdal simulation aids. This $10,000 project provided “Annie” and “Prem Annie,” which give staff the tools to refine the specialised techniques required to care for newborns in critical situations.

$53,500

“Kenny,” an adult-sized Laerdal training aid, was purchased in 2021 with an investment of $53,500. Kenny allows medical teams to practice life-saving techniques such as artificial respiration in a realistic and safe environment, helping staff stay confident and prepared.

ONGOING

Staff Training Fund

$20,000+

Investing in people is just as important as investing in equipment. The Foundation has set aside more than $20,000 to establish a dedicated fund for continuous professional training for nurses. This initiative ensures staff can access advanced education and development opportunities, directly enhancing the level of care patients receive.

$11,392

To improve living conditions for medical professionals based at Lakes District Hospital, the Foundation funded $11,392 for new furniture in the Doctors’ Cottage. Creating a more comfortable home environment helps attract and retain healthcare staff who are vital to the Queenstown community.
